Questions and answers
Short answers to the things people ask first.
What is Quorix?
A multiplayer game platform with more than 50 original games - chess, racing, trivia, space battles, party games and more - plus coins, a shop, quests, achievements, friends, chat, parties and tournaments. It also has Quorix: Dominion, a persistent world of nations, armies and alliances.
Is it free?
Yes. There is nothing to buy: coins are earned by playing and can only be spent on cosmetic things such as name colours and profile frames. Nothing connects to real money.
When can I download it?
Soon. The apps and games are built; the last piece is the always-on server that everyone connects to. There is no date yet and nothing to sign up for. This site's Coming soon page shows exactly how far along things are, and the download button turns on the moment the server is ready.
What do I need to play?
A Windows 10 or 11 computer for the download from the Download page: it already contains everything it needs. On Mac or Linux, use the Quorix.jar file with Java installed. You also need an internet connection, because the games are played through Quorix's game server.
Do I make an account on this website?
No. You create your account in the Quorix app. The website only has Sign in, for people who already have an account, so you can see your coin balance and rankings.
Windows says "Windows protected your PC". Is Quorix safe?
Windows shows that message for any new app from a small publisher that has not paid for a code-signing certificate. Click More info, then Run anyway. You can compare the download's SHA-256 checksum on the Download page with the file you received.
How do updates work?
The app checks for a newer version each time it starts, downloads it, checks it against the checksum the website announces, and installs it before opening. You can also press Check for updates in Settings.
Can I run my own server?
No. Quorix has one official server, run by its owner. Everyone plays on it together.
Which games have rankings?
Nineteen games keep an Elo rating and four keep a best-score board. See the Leaderboards page. More are planned - see Upcoming features.
Can I suggest a game or vote on what comes next?
Yes. The Vote page lists what we may build next, and the app has a Suggest a Game page.
Who makes Quorix?
Benjamin Bipin George (Bipin). Most of the code was written by an AI coding assistant working from his instructions; the Credits page has the details.
